What is Reiki?
Reiki is a method of channelling Universal Energy to harmonise the energy of body, mind and spirit. It is a completely natural method used with the intention of maintaining, restoring and balancing the energy.
This method comes from Japan, introduced in the 19th century by Dr. Mikao Usui (1865 – 1926). It is a relaxation technique and at the same time a gentle practice that can restore the deep balance of body and mind.
Reiki is not a religion, it is independent of belief. Each person who practices or receives Reiki has their own philosophy of life.
Reiki is a Japanese word that means “Universal Life Energy”.
How does it work?
The person who does Reiki becomes a channel, captures the vital energy of the Universe and the Earth and transmits it to the person through the imposition of hands. The energy provided is the one the person needs during the session.
The receiver takes in the energy that circulates throughout the organism, balances and aligns the energy of the different energy centres of the body known as chakras. Reiki acts in an integral way, considering mental, physical, emotional and spiritual areas as an indivisible part of each person.

What are the chakras?
Chakras are energy centres located in different parts of the body. There are seven main chakras, which are aligned along the spine. Each is connected to our being on many different levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
On the physical level each chakra governs a major organ or gland, which is connected to other parts of the body that vibrate at the same frequency. Each chakra is connected to a vibratory frequency of colour, for example, the heart chakra resonates to the colour green.
What is it useful for?
Reiki helps us to modify, improve and enhance our energy in order to harmonise. It is a very effective tool for releasing tension, anti-stress and promoting relaxation.
Therefore, one of the great benefits of Reiki is the reduction of stress. On the other hand, it helps to unblock energy caused by negative emotions.

What can you feel in a Reiki session?
The sensations experienced during a Reiki session depend on the person, they may feel hot and/or cold, breathing is deepened, physical and emotional tension is released, they may feel sleepy, a deep relaxation and sense of well-being.
All these sensations lead the person to feel calm and relieve stress, causing a positive impact on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
How does a Reiki session work?
The person receiving the Reiki session remains dressed, lying on the stretcher. During the session soft music and aromas such as incense or essences are used.
The practitioner places his or her hands over the receiver’s chakras (with or without physical contact) for approximately 3 minutes in each chakra, first face-up and then face-down.
The session lasts approximately one hour.
How many sessions are needed?
If the objective is to relax, the sessions can be done independently, as the person feels it.
If you want to do a more profound work, it is advisable to do about four sessions spaced out in a few weeks and then do another one when the person feels the need.
